Day of the Dead Festival

Saturday 02 November, 11am onwards

Join us for a free mini Festival to celebrate the annual Dia de Muertos Festival held in Mexico.

There will be food and drink, music, craft workshops and the opportunity to create an ‘Ofrenda’ dedicated to the community’s loved ones. This Festival is co-curated with local resident Sandra Hall.

The Programme:

Saturday:

  • 11 - 1pm - Papel Picado - A paper craft workshop

  • 11 - 3pm - Felt flowers & skulls, creating a table runner for the “Ofrenda”

  • 12pm - Tequila Bar Opens for Mexican drinks and snacks

  • 12pm - Mexican Folk Dance Workshop

  • 1 - 3pm - Floral head bands - to wear and take home

  • 2 - 4pm - Sugar skull cookies - decorate to take home and eat

  • 3pm - Mexican Folk Dance Workshop

  • 4pm - Dressing the “Ofrenda” - using the crafts created in the workshops, and dedications to your loved ones

  • 4.30pm - Mexican Folk Dance Performance, with dances from Jalisco and Veracruz
