The Pier Commission
In September we launched the inaugural Pier Commission - an arts project based on Erith Pier. Members of the Erith community supported artist Julia Snowdin to create a series of storytelling sails that told stories of the river past and present, which were hung around the pier for three weeks as part of the Totally Thames Festival. This project was sponsored by Orbit and Wates Residential.
Erith Lighthouse was a project funded by Bexley Council and developed by design practices DK-CM and The Decorators. Over the summer this pop-up events space was located in two Erith sites - the Riverside Gardens and at the entrance to Erith Pier. the exchange ran daytime programming for local families, adults and schools. London South East College students supported the exchange by promoting the event and developing artwork, images and films.
Erith Fun Day
the exchange's first local event! the exchange took a stall at Erith's Fun Day to ask local residents what they would like to see at the Old Carnegie Library, and to help us to design our logo. You can find out what people thought by clicking below.
Erith Christmas Tree Festival
We had a lot of fun working with Erith Christ Church to deliver activities for the annual Erith Christmas Tree Festival. We held a Street Food Fair, delivered some Christmas Crafting activities and decorated a large tree with donations from James Glancy Design. We are looking forward to next year already.
