We are looking for 4 new individuals to join our Board of Trustees. Could that be you?

You will be part of an amazing team of people that govern The Exchange, guiding the organisation’s growth to make continued positive change within Erith and Bexley.

We are specifically looking for the following roles to be filled:

  • Treasurer

  • Vice Chair

  • Trustee x 2

Experience of being on a Board is not essential, but understanding the role of a Board is crucial. All new Trustees will be asked to take Governance Training on starting out.

Deadline for applications is Sunday 26 October.

The applications will be reviewed by a sub-group of the Board, and a shortlist created for each position. Shortlisted applicants will then be presented to membership at the Annual General Meeting, so the membership can take a vote.

SUMMARY ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:

  • We are looking for candidates with experience of the Charity sector, ideally in operations roles who want to support a charitable organisation with proven local impact.

    Ideally you will be a resident of Erith, Bexley or live nearby and have links or lived experience of the area.

  • We are seeking a new Trustee to take on the Treasurer position at The Exchange. The role has become available as the current Treasurer is about to complete their full two terms (6 years). We are looking for candidates with professional financial experience and a strong interest in supporting a charitable organisation with proven local impact. Ideally you will be a resident of Erith, Bexley or live nearby and have links or lived experience of the area.

  • We are seeking two new Trustees for The Exchange Board. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in supporting a charitable organisation with proven local impact. Ideally you will be a resident of Erith, Bexley or live nearby and have links or lived experience of the area.

     

    We’re especially keen to hear from people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

     

    1. Charity Management — Legal, HR, Operations, Facilities, and helping with establishing strong governance practices.

    2. Consumer Marketing and Communications - experience of generating footfall, increasing e-commerce sales, or driving awareness of retail spaces especially through PR and partnerships.

    3. Fundraising - experience of raising funds from trusts and foundations, recurring giving, legacy gifts, advocacy and monitoring impact.

  4. A Board Sub-Committee will then review applications and those with relevant experience will be contacted and then put forward for a Members vote the AGM in November (date TBC).
