Lantern Making

As the nights grow longer, it's the perfect season to celebrate the magic of light.

Become part of our Community Maker and Family Art Club teams and help bring a touch of enchantment to The Exchange by crafting vibrant lanterns that will be used in our Leaves Fall to Bright Sounds programme, part of Night Visions—an Arts Council-supported initiative led by the Bexley Culture Network.

Leaves Fall to Bright Sounds is a community programme blending craft, light and music. Through free, collaborative community workshops in lantern and decoration making, and a series of uplifting concerts, The Exchange will be transformed into a candlelit autumnal haven as the year draws to a close.

The lanterns will be used to illuminate our main space, the ‘Town Square’ for our music programme as well as decorations for The Exchange's very own illuminated Garden Trail! From cotton reel lanterns to giant gardening spades, we shall design and develop a series of handmade displays for the trail that will light up in December.

Whether you come solo or with friends, everyone is welcome! No experience is needed—and all materials are provided. Just bring your creativity and enjoy the glow.
