Ken Chamberlain, long-standing Chair of the local history society, provides us with another illustrated talk, this time dealing with a road once described as the ‘prettiest road in the town’. There is little doubt that this was true especially in the early part of the 20th century. The road was built during the 1840s when it contained mostly private housing. But in due course provided a cinema, departmental stores, a dance hall, as well as variety of shops.
